Masterfire Installed Fire Doors & Provided Fire Sealing Services within a Live Hospital Environment
In 2019, Masterfire secured a tender to replace fire doors along compartment lines throughout all wards in Cavan General Hospital. Ward entrances were changed as a priority as the hospital had a horizontal evacuation policy. Masterfire also carried out full compartment seal works to ensure compartment lines were complete. The project was complimented by the install of new flooring and door hold open devices were installed by our electrical team.
We liaised with hospital staff and maintenance teams throughout the project and provided a colour coded door system throughout the hospital to support identification of areas.
Due to the live and sensitive nature of the environment Masterfire’s Health & Safety Officer designed project specific RAMS to ensure the works were carried out safely, with the minimum of disruption to the hospital. All areas were physically sealed from the hospital during works and were left as found following testing and verification of the new installs. We worked closely with the hospital’s infection control team to design safe work practices in light of COVID-19, overcoming the challenge presented and ensuring no cases of infection occurred.
